Of her work, Toni says this:
“Nature communicates to us a story about her environment, plants and wildlife who call her home. Wildlife expressions, the flow and abstract qualities of the landscape and the vibrant colors of my garden flowers are what I want to capture in the visionary moments and stories from my backyard and on my nature hikes through my paintings and handmade books.
“Watercolors or acrylics allow me to express moments in nature with layers of washes creating detail and contrast where needed along with soft and blurred edges. Besides working on watercolor paper I can also work on a variety of handmade papers and canvas with the aids of clear and opaque watercolor grounds.
“Handmade Books or Mixed Media with Collage and Image Transfers help to build a story I wish to convey. Using handmade papers, elements from nature, transfers, and a variety of painting mediums I can create with transparent and opaque layers. The books become nature sculpture with a spiritual aspect and the mixed media artworks are created on canvas or natural papers.”
