Ashville, New York
Corinne Kahanic resides and paints in Ashville, New York. She paints as a form of relaxation and, while she can only pursue art as a hobby in this stage of her life, it is her true passion.
Living most of her life in this area, Corinne was first inspired to paint by her mother, Barbara Kales, who painted landscapes using oil. Corinne's early work followed her mother's lead and focused primarily on landscapes.
More recently, Corinne has studied with local and upstate New York artists, as well as artists in Sedona, Arizona where her art has expanded to include floral still life and her beautiful expression of color and grace in her painting of Japanese Koi.
Of her process and work, Corinne says this:
"This piece, Koi #1, is named simply for a reason. I feel that the name "Koi" in and of itself describes a natural grace in shape, movement and color. "#1" not only indicates a first work on this subject, but is also meaningful since this work represents a true evolution and "first" for me as an artist. This painting represents the release of my artistic self and a freeing of myself as a person."
