After graduating from Tufts University in 1992, Anne was hired as a graphic designer with the Advisory Board Company in Washington, DC. Within a few years she was promoted to Director of Creative Services, with a staff of more than 30. By then married, she and her husband moved to Portland, Oregon where she was hired as Creative Director at an advertising agency. After a year there, she left to start an event planning company specializing in nonprofit black-tie fundraising auctions.
Anne is currently employed as Executive Director of the Cattaraugus County Arts Council since April 2006, an opportunity she describes as her "dream job, combining all my years of experience into one position."
Of her work, Anne has this to say:
"I started painting as a means of working out my grief for my mother who I lost to breast cancer in 2001. She was a wonderful watercolor artist who kept me at her side as she painted her life. Although I started painting landscapes, and scenes at St. Bonaventure University, my watercolor pool paintings have been a near obsession for the past few years. The ephemeral nature of the the ever-moving water seems to me a natural setting for my daughters, ever-growing and changing before my eyes, as unstoppable as the ripples and refracting light in the water. And now, as I prepare my family for an unexpected move to Florida in the coming year, the paintings seem to have have been almost futuristic, paving a sunlit path in my imagination, helping me embrace change."
